This August, there will be a one-off performance of The Taming of the Shrew in Walkden Gardens, Sale. The play will be staged by Folksy Theatre, a touring company who specialise in outdoor shows such as this. The Taming of the Shrew is one of Shakespeare’s most performed comedies, and was the inspiration for Kiss Me, Kate and 10 Things I Hate About You. However, it can hardly be said to be politically correct – so might not be one for the easily offended. The organisers request that audience members come prepared with folding chairs, a picnic and waterproofs/sunglasses (depending on the weather). Walkden Gardens is easily accessible by Metrolink, being only a few minutes’ walk from the Sale tram stop.
