Over the past few years The Wolf has established itself as a leading independent international poetry magazine. Its editors seek out the best poetry worldwide, publishing new and established voices alongside international translations, critical prose and interviews with contemporary poets. Since its inception in 2002, it has featured 350 writers from all over the world. Recent features include an introduction to contemporary Burmese poetry and translations from the Al-Sendian festival in Syria. Visually stunning, each edition is illustrated by a different artist-in-residence. Every issue launches with a showcase of the poets featured within. Issue 30 is launching in Manchester with readings from Ilya Kaminsky (pictured, Ukrainian contemporary poet), John Redmond (author Thumb’s Width and MUDe), Scott Thurston (author Reverses Heart’s Reassembly) and Sophie Mayer (Poet in Residence at Archive of the Now). As is surely mandatory at such events, wine will be available to accompany the readings.
