Over the last few months, five local libraries have been undertaking a joint creative arts project that culminates this Saturday at Central Library. Echo Trace, named after the acoustics of the historic reading room, will showcase some of area’s most cutting-edge musicians and graphic artists. Avant-garde bands The Noise Upstairs and The Owl Project (pictured) will be showcasing sound sculptures and asking visitors to join them in an improvised musical performance. Grand Day Out is a local history installation that uses photography, film and audio recordings to evoke growing up in north Manchester. At lunchtime, acclaimed chef Mary-Ellen McTague will serve canapés inspired by literary works, accompanied by prose by Emma Jane Unsworth. The event concludes with Chaos to Order, a musical performance from 15 up-and-coming local musicians, with singer-songwriters Sara Lowes and Liam Frost (pictured). See the website below for the times of each event.
