It seems like festival season starts earlier every year. Ah well, at least it’s kicking off with a good one: The Gardenia Music Festival in Hulme. It will take place this Saturday, at the area’s Community Garden Centre – a very rock ’n’ roll venue indeed. The all-day event will have three stages showcasing over 20 acts from the underground music scene. The website, below, has the full listings. In association with the Northern Quarter’s Whiskey Jar, there will be open mic-style acoustic sets taking place in the glamorous setting of a polythene greenhouse tunnel. The local music collective Samsara Sessions are presenting an amphitheatre-style ‘forest stage’. The main stage will be buzzing into the evening, and it will be surrounded by bars and food outlets. Tickets numbers are strictly limited, so act fast. The event is organised by the production company People Staring, and music events team The Underground Project. All the money raised will go to the performers and the garden centre.
