Soup Kitchen is taking summer by the horns and expanding the Caribbean-inspired bits of its menu. Highlights of the award-winning bar and club’s food selection include head chef James Coles’ home recipe jerk chicken with rice and peas (£7, pictured)), curried goat slow cooked for five hours (£7), and a vegan-tastic veg stew taking in tropical staples like yam, plantain and sweet potato (£6.50). Sides include slaw, salt fish fritters (£3.50) and spicy Jamaican patties (£3.50) with soup, sandwiches, salads and hot drinks on offer as usual. With sun-baked flavours and one of the best rum and cokes in town, the Northern Quarter hot spot just turned up the heat.
