In what may be the shortest notice for a top comedy gig ever it has just been announced that Chris Gethard will be doing his show ‘Career Suicide’ at XS Malarkey’s usual home this Sunday. Perhaps the title of the show is also an indication of how last minute he likes to leave marketing. Having appeared on shows such as The Office, Parks and Recreation and more recently as Ilana’s dorky boss on Broad City Gethard has been a staple of the American alternative comedy scene for the last ten years regularly hosting shows at New York’s famous UCB comedy club. His latest show drew rave reviews at Edinburgh last year and will be the first time the comic will have performed in Manchester. A smart, awkward and brilliantly honest performer Gethard has rightly started to get the recognition he richly deserves for being an excellent writer and unique performer. If you can make it, you really should.
