Warpaint, one of the great band success stories of the decade, announced this show at Manchester Academy earlier in the year before even firming up details of their second album. Still, they’re a band that like to take their time with this kind of thing – after forming in 2004, they waiting six years until the release of their debut, The Fool. The subsequent whirlwind around that release engulfed them in world tours, in-store appearances and manic, obsessive fandom right up until last year. Work has certainly started on the next LP – the band themselves have confirmed it – so this show should offer a window into where the new work is headed.
