Chorlton Weekender returns to the Manchester suburb this May with three days of brilliant music in Chorlton’s churches as part of Chorlton Arts Festival. Starting proceedings on Friday 27 May, Ren Harvieu is joined by Romeo Stodart from The Magic Numbers for an intimate gig in the surroundings of St Ninian’s Church (7pm, £15/£13, www.fatsoma.com). The Owiny Sigoma Band (pictured) with members from London and Kenya, bring the beats to St Clements Church on Saturday (28 May, £10/£8, www.fatsoma.com) with their cross-cultural, boundary surpassing music – expect big beats and a good time. Closing the Chorlton Weekender will be Manchester’s celebrated all female group, PINS with support from False Advertising and Mad Winter (Sun 29 May, £10/£8, www.fatsoma.com). And don’t forget, it’s a bank holiday weekend so there’s no excuse not to get involved. To be in with a chance of winning two wristband tickets to the whole Weekender, simply sign up to our mailing list in the top right hand corner of our website (you just add your email in and press return – we don’t share information with anyone else and you can subscribe at any time) and email competitions [at] ManchesterWire [dot] co [dot] uk with your name, age and Twitter handle. Competition closes on Tuesday 26 April at midnight.
