The Bridgewater Hall hosts an evening of music by Steve Reich (pictured) this July, featuring a rare performance by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood. The concert will comprise the minimalist pioneer’s seminal piece Music for 18 Musicians – performed by the London Sinfonietta and Synergy Vocals – with percussionists from the chamber orchestra also playing Clapping Music, and Greenwood tackling Electric Counterpoint. The guitarist first performed the three-movement piece publicly at a Reich-themed festival in Poland in 2011, which in turn inspired the New Yorker to write a Radiohead-influence composition, Radio Rewrite. We’ve teamed up with the Bridgewater Hall to offer a lucky reader a pair of tickets for this exciting concert. To enter, send the answer to the question below, plus your name, age and Twitter handle, to competitions at manchesterwire dot co dot uk, with the subject line ‘Steve Reich competition’. The competition closes on Sunday 29 June, and we’ll announce the winner on Monday 30 June.
