Chocolate lovers rejoice – Chocolate Week 2019 is fast approaching, taking place from Mon 15 to Sun 2o Oct. There’s no shortage of places in Manchester to find the tastiest chocolate – and there are even some special events running in celebration of Chocolate Week. With this in mind, we’ve rounded up the best chocolate Manchester has to offer, from artisan chocolate shops to special chocolate cocktails from leading UK brands.

The Cocoa Tree

The Cocoa Tree in Chorlton is both a chocolate shop and a café, making it the perfect place to treat yourself to some Chocolate Week indulgence. All their chocolates are made on the premises and they use the finest ingredients from sustainable and ethical sources. Don’t miss the special house hot chocolate served in the café, available in flavours ranging from classic chocolate orange to the slightly more outlandish (but still delicious) rose chocolate, for the more adventurous sweet tooth.

Cocoa Cabana

Cocoa Cabana opened in West Didsbury in 2012 before launching a second store in Ancoats earlier this year. The venue offers handmade chocolates and hot drinks in the shop, as well as wedding cakes and dessert tables for big events. They specialise in experimental chocolate shards and slabs (although there’s plenty of traditional flavours too), so this is the perfect place to pick up a few unique gifts. As if that wasn’t enough, they also serve up a selection of chocolate-infused cocktails. Don’t forget to treat yourself, too – make sure to test their claim of offering the best brownies you’ll ever taste.

Cocoa Cabana, 168 Burton Road, West Didsbury, Manchester, M20 1JQ & Cocoa Cabana, 7 Murray Street, Manchester, M4 6HS, Tel:0161 282 5700 (West Didsbury) & 0161 236 4784 (Ancoats)
Dormouse Chocolates

Dormouse Chocolates offer both their own chocolate and international craft chocolate in their friendly Deansgate store. They offer private tastings in an informal setting and for truly adventurous chocolate lovers, they have a Bean to Door club, giving a subscription to their limited edition micro-batch bars made with experimental flavours and techniques.

Black Milk

Located in the Northern Quarter, Black Milk is ostensibly a cereal café but in reality it’s so much more. They offer the most indulgent freakshakes (huge milkshakes loaded with sauce, cream and ‘toppings’ such as an entire slice of cake) – for a perfect Chocolate Week drink check out the Marshmallow Rodeo, topped with a fudge brownie, torched marshmallows and melted chocolate. They also serve vegan milkshakes, made with vegan ice cream and milk, so there really is something for everyone!

FAIR. and Divine Chocolate Week Cocktails at Hotel Gotham and Blind Tyger

These two Manchester bars will host a special cocktail collaboration between two of the UK’s leading luxury food brands – FAIR. Drinks and Divine Chocolate have dreamed up some unique cocktails mixing FAIR.’s luxury sustainable vodka, rum, gin, coffee and cacao liqueur with Divine’s famously indulgent (and ethically sourced) chocolate. The cocktails will only be available during Chocolate Week 2019, so make sure you don’t miss out on what are sure to be some seriously good drinks.
