For some it's just another night of the year where they'd prefer to avoid the hoards of people who are throwing shots down their necks like the apocalypse is imminent, and these sentiments are justified given the punters who choose to only unleash their inner demon on the last day of December, but it doesn't have to be this way. Our rainy city has invited more than a handful of guests to bring the new year in; ones to suit a wide spectrum of tastes, so begin 2015 by witnessing one from our handpicked selection:
The Bug ft. Flowdan, Islington Mill (pictured)
Kevin Martin, aka The Bug, has been on the scene for over a decade and has appeared on labels such as Ninja Tune, Rephlex, Virgin and City Slang producing a blend of sounds spanning dub, industrial and hip-hop. His release earlier this year, Angels & Devils was one of the highlights of 2014 and he's joined by regular collaborator Flowdan at Regents Trading Warehouse where a specially-built tunnel connects the venue to Islington Mill, where your ears will be rattled by Stop Making Sense DJs amongst others, and an after-party curated by regular guests Faktion.

Music Is Love ft. Kerri Chandler, Move D, Oli Furness + more, Sankeys
Subject to the self-imposed drama of will-they-won't-they-close-again, Sankeys' roster this year has featured some widely-respectable artists from Ben Klock to Booka Shade, and they're seeing the year off with an event headlined by Kerri Chandler and Move D. Both artists are dropped into the house genre but also bring extra flavours to the decks including soul, jazz and disco. With over twenty years in the industry and reputations as some of the most tasteful selectors this generation has seen, this rhythmic ride into 2015 will be a leg-aching affair.

Wet Play & Full Beam, Soup Kitchen
For a more local-flavoured shindig, Wet Play, for the fourth year running take over Soup Kitchen for their annual delightfully debauched end of year cracker. A collective who take pride in their residents (just a couple o' DJs, producers and record shop regulars), Wet Play are known for their outwardly friendly do's covering some intensely boogie-causing jams of disco and house. Having put out some of their own releases, the nights reflect the same style of good vibes and no pretentiousness. Guests include Garth Be, Il Bosco and more.
