The third annual Design Manchester festival is taking place in October, at several venues across the city. There’s a whole host of events planned which celebrate the worlds of art, design, film, animation, and photography. The festival opens with the launch of Unfinished Business, an exhibition of work by the graphic artist Ian ‘Swifty’ Swift. The exhibition is split over three Northern Quarter venues: PLY, Kosmonaut, and Fred Aldous. At the former Cornerhouse building, Stephen Morris of New Order will be discussing his long and storied career with journalist Jon Drape. Also at Cornerhouse, there will be a screening of the BAFTA-nominated film Northern Soul, directed by photographer Elaine Constantine: A story of youth rebellion in 1970s Lancashire, the film stars Steve Coogan and Ricky Tomlinson. The Manchester Print Festival is also taking place at the People’s History Museum, where there will be over 50 stalls of independent artwork alongside workshops and other hands-on activities. These are just a few of the things you can see at this year’s packed-out festival: Check out the website for full listings.
