Mark Kozelek’s musical path has remained consistently impressive across nearly 15 years behind the Sun Kil Moon moniker. Swimming in the deeper, darker waters of the folk rock ocean, his music is all the while buoyed by melodic undercurrents. Born in Ohio but birthing Sun Kil Moon in San Francisco, Kozelek has worked with some of the most popular indie musicians of recent decade, from Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock to Will Oldham, aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy. For this RNCM show he’ll rekindle his supergroup with Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley and Justin Broadwick of Jesu, the Welsh band with whom he released a collaborative album earlier in 2016.
