Based in Los Angeles, YACHT is made up of Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans. It first came into existence in 2002 as a solo project by Jona, while Claire joined six years later. YACHT have released six studio albums brimming with jovial and often obscure dance-punk and synthpop – the most recent of which, I Thought the Future Would Be Cooler, features long-time collaborator and bandmate Rob Kieswetter. Recorded over two years, this is a labour of love and is a melting pot of 80s Japanese electronic reggae, 80s post-punk and Norwegian disco.
