Awesome Tapes from Africa is just that. Expect a night of disco, funk, soul, and jazz from across that great continent. Founded in 2006 in Los Angeles, ATFA is a record label with a vast library of underground African music to buy or stream for free. The label has become a cult hit, spawning an world tour, which returns to Manchester this June. The night is presented by the local DJ duo Banana Hill, who will be supporting with their own mix of Afrobeat and soul. The full line-up will be announced closer to the date. Although the event is some way off, over 200 tickets have been sold already and the last one sold out way in advance. A hot ticket.
