The Ocean Film Festival is coming to the Plaza Theatre in Stockport as part of its world tour. The evening event, taking place next month, features a selection of short documentaries covering topics such as marine creatures, coastal culture, and ocean-related sports. Standouts films include Ocean Minded, which follows champion free diver Hanli Prinsloo on her adventures off the coast of Mozambique. Here, she braves shark-infested waters to view these feared creatures in a new and respectful light. The Fisherman’s Son, is the story of Ramon Navarro, who a as boy in Chile was a given a broken surfboard by a tourist, and grew up to be one of the most successful big wave surfers in the world. ‘Lighting Strikes Twice’ follows a team of marine archaeologists as they investigate a 19th century whaling ship which sank near one of the most remote archipelagos in Earth.
