This is a quick reminder to keep your calendars free for the second Sunday in June, as it’s this year’s Manchester Day. Tens of thousands of visitors will be coming to the city centre for the parade and many family-friendly activities. The theme for the event is ‘Game On!’, and it centres on how sports have shaped Manchester. The city’s sporting achievements will be celebrated, along with the local computer games industry. Expect music, costumes, characters, artworks, and showmanship at the 1500-strong parade which is the day’s centrepiece. All the area’s best street food vendors will be on hand in the squares throughout the city centre. Keep an eye on the website below, as the full programme of entertainment will be announced soon. Manchester Day is produced by outdoor arts company Walk the Plank, in association with various community groups, charities and volunteers.
