In Manchester music, a diversity of genres is maintained as DJs, bands and punters alike hold a healthy respect for the variety and vibrancy of the city. Mix Up celebrates this attitude, and since 2011 has run events celebrating eclectic, affordable music. For their latest foray they’re popping up in the jewel of Levenshulme, the Klondyke Club, with three top drawer acts. Daudi Matsiko writes beautiful folk songs from the heart, and recently forayed into the ears of hip hop audiences with an appearance on Nottingham rapper Scorzayzee’s debut album. Mammal Hands are a powerful mix of electronica-influenced jazz, signed to Manchester’s premier jazz label Gondwana Records, and often spoken of in the same breath as former label-mates GoGo Penguin. Age Of Glass are an already-legendary bastard prog hybrid of wonderful sounds, who will most probably blow your mind. A brilliant city-centre style line-up in the suburbs, and well worth the price of a ticket.
