Fri 10 Jan | Night of the Living Dread | Band on the Wall
Easing you back into the world of loud music post-NYE, Manchester’s own Mikey Don teams up with another local selector: Dom, of Blood & Fire Records and King Spinna fame. A choice for the reggae connoisseur, but in an environment accessible enough for newcomers, the fact that it’s free before 12 should mean you have no excuse to shake off those cobwebs.
FREE before 12; £5 OTD after

Sat 11 Jan | Sticky | Antwerp Mansion
Horizon teams up with the juggernaut that is Hit & Run to warm up for everybody’s favourite mountain-based music festival. Garage legend Sticky is undeniably the main event for me, but I’m also intrigued by Oscar Luweez, who used to make very enjoyable music under his D1 moniker. Chimpo, Barely Legal and Rich Reason are also on the bill, making the pre-release price of £4 an absolute steal.

Fri 17 Jan | Jonny Dub (pictured) | Common
I’m hoping this is going to be an opportunity for Hoya:Hoya’s Jonny Dub to explore the weirder regions of his huge record collection. His club-smashing abilities are up there with anyone, but it’s always nice when he gets to express his more subtle side; Common’s Friday night atmosphere should be a more than suitable backdrop.

Sat 18 Jan | Swing Ting ft. Zed Bias (pictured) | Soup Kitchen
I can’t believe it’s taken us so long to get Zed Bias on at Swing Ting, but I’m so excited that it’s finally happening. He’s had such a big impact on all of us and it’s so good to see him go through his well-deserved renaissance at the moment. He’s been someone we’ve wanted to get on for so long and I honestly can’t wait. Although I would say that.
£5 OTD all night

Sun 19 Jan | ESG | FAC 251
Bit of a wildcard, this. Undoubtedly there’s an element of trying to relive past events which is always a tightrope and with DJ support from the Haçienda’s Dave Haslam, there’s a very specific target demographic for this event, but at the end of the day, it’s ESG and if the press is to be believed, they won’t be coming back after this one. £19 tickets are still available.
£19 advance tickets: www.skiddle.com

Thanks to Swing Ting – street and sound system sounds, 3rd Saturday of the month at Soup Kitchen.
