Coloured Interval is a new exhibition at Ordsall Hall by artist Liz West, which the attic spaces of this Tudor mansion transformed by radiant light and luminous hues. This site-specific work is part of UNESCO’s Year of Light celebrations, and is designed to brighten and transform these dark, imposing areas. The aim of the piece is to create a heightened sensory awareness and produce both psychological and physical responses in visitors. Complementing the installation, some of Liz West’s works on paper are on display at the Hall’s Egerton Gallery, for visitors to peruse and purchase. Later this month, Liz will be giving a free tour of Coloured Interval, where she will discuss her inspirations and artistic interests. She also has another major public artwork coming to Spinningfields in November 2015.
