The Rambert dance company is coming to The Lowry with a new show and exhibition. This is world premiere of Flight, a piece which explores the themes of migration and borders. Sixteen dancers seek to depict the experience of migrants leaving one home to find another, with music and multimedia projections. A companion piece, Frames, sees performers use metal bars to form shapes that enclose their dancing alongside A Linha Curva for a 26 dancers and six percussionists and based on Latin American rhythms and movements. An exhibition, Perpetual Movement, is part of a nationwide programme to mark Rambert’s 90th anniversary. It showcases specially commissioned works by five contemporary artists, including the Turner Prize nominee Goshka Macuga. The artworks explore the links between visual art and dance.
