The picturesque Derbyshire town of New Mills is currently holding its annual festival. A huge number of events are planned, including art shows, history talks, and open days. Being in the Pennines, the festival has an emphasis on outdoor events, with many walks and hikes for differing skill levels. This Saturday, there will be a concert from Ashley Hutchings, a founder of Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span. On Sunday, Paul Jones, the Radio 2 DJ and former member of Manfred Mann, will be performing an evening of songs and stories. The festival ends on the last Sunday of the month with an artisan food fair. New Mills is half an hour from Manchester by train, and 50 mins by car.
