Manchester movie group Filmonik present a silent movie screening at the Deaf Institute. This event is part of Filmonik Kabaret, a festival in which film-makers have a short amount of time to write, direct, edit films. Starting just three days prior to the screening, people from Manchester, the UK and the rest of the world will frantically make silent movies together. On the night, all the films will have their music and sound effects created live on stage. Sounds will come from bands, performers and even audience participation. It promises to be an entertaining, funny, and possibly chaotic night. If you would like to be involved with the actual film-making process, tickets are available until 6pm on Thu 17 July.

Wed 30 Jul, The Deaf Institute, 135 Grosvenor Street, M1 7HE, 7.30pm, £5 entry for viewers, 18+, screeningfilm.com
