The stakes are high at this year’s Hard Rock Rising as four bands from the north of England duke it out for a chance to play at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens during a Miami Dolphins game. Then there’s the small matter of the £1000 prize money (and much more) for those that win this Manchester heat. The homegrown stars competing in this contest include pop punk heroes Wild at Heart, alt-rockers Paper Mountains from St Helen’s, indie act Kosmonauts and similarly celestially named Cosmo Calling. A great chance to see the future of the city’s indie scene and find your new favourite band while propelling them on to trans-atlantic stardom. The Manchester final of Battle of the Bands: Hard Rock Rising is entirely free to attend and judges include music industry leaders such as host Sophie Sveinsson (XS Manchester), Manchester Arena’s James Allen, Donut Sounds’ Paul Donlon, Manchester Rocks’ Phil Weller and Starsailor’s James Walsh who will be performing a very special acoustic set. An added bonus if ever there was one.
