The exploits of The Great Gatsby author F Scott and his wife Zelda Fitzgerald inspired the name and style of this 1920s-themed Northern Quarter institution – and a part of it’s allure is a weekly showcase of free, live music. Choose from an open mic every Wednesday, hosted by Jonny Woodhead of local stars South Island Son and spirit-inspired live music every Thursday with options such as Gin and Jazz night, with a special gin-based cocktail menu, and Bourbon and Blues nights with Buillet Bourbon blends on offer. The open mic is a chance to see some of the stars of the Manchester’s world-class music scene for free, while on Thursdays, the drink and music pairings extend to chilled out acoustic nights (monthly Rum Sessions with Santa Teresa rum-based cocktails such as Mai Tahi wth cointreau, lime and mint, or the sweet-sour Hurricane Bea with two shots of rum and tropical juices) and Tequila Fiesta; an upbeat rock ’n’ roll party with an El Jimador Tequila cocktail list. All events are free entry and cocktails such as are two for £10 all night. Sounds like a party.
