Gin tours: The City of Manchester Distillery opens in the Green Quarter (pictured)
Located in a regenerated railway arch in the resurgent Green Quarter, The City of Manchester Distillery has been born. After extensive travel and dreaming up his gin concept, former University lecturer Dave Rigby has created this home of Manchester Three Rivers Gin. The venue offers Gin Experience tours beginning with a G&T and introduction to the Distillery. After a tour around the gin production, guests are invited to the gin school, to learn about botanicals and flavours. Then comes the science bit. You get to create your very own gin using the copper pot stills, choosing from over 50 flavours such as Madagascan vanilla, liquorice root or elderflower. With your 700ml bottle safe in your backpack, the tour then finishes in the onsite bar with gin cocktails aplenty.
From Thu 18 Aug, City of Manchester Distillery, 21 Red Bank Parade, Manchester, M4 4HF. Tel: 0161 839 2667, www.manchesterthreerivers.com
