Manchester food and drink news this week includes a festive Grub fair, a new jerk shack for the Northern Quarter, booking being taken at Michael O’Hare’s new restaurant, The Rabbit in the Moon and a three courses plus wine offer for £18 at Didsbury’s Hispi.

Pre-Christmas GRUB Food Fair
The collaboration between GRUB and Alphabet Brewing Company is going rogue and shifting days to this Friday, to give Manchester an excellent bolthole to avoid the Mad Friday crowd. Usual great food service will resume with Nasi Lemak, Purely Pizza, Wallace and Sons, Hip Hop Chip Shop, plus Milkjam Mcr for afters. Expect live DJs, good food and pre-family Christmas fun. A five minute walk from Piccadilly Station, bring cash for the food stalls, (cards accepted at the bar.)
Fri 23 Dec, Alphabet Brewing Company, 99 North Western Street, Manchester, M12 6JL. 12-10pm, www.facebook.com

New for Northern Quarter: Jerk Shack next to Northern Soul
Now the proud owners of brand spanking new signs (Merry Christmas), Jerk Shack has settled into the Northern Quarter neighbourhood, serving up jerk chicken, pumpkin rice, jerk jackfruit and plantain, next to their Northern Soul grilled cheese neighbours. Part of the influx of new traders for Arndale Market, their Caribbean fare is a welcome addition to the food offering in that area of the city. Plenty of gluten free and vegan options, too.
Open now: Jerk Shack, Church Street, Manchester, M4 1PN, times vary, www.facebook.com
