This week’s Manchester food and drink news includes new Polish and Jamaican food vendors, Platzki and Yard Food Store at Spinningfield’s The Kitchens, a new vegan store for Stockport called The Herbivore, new opening, Patisserie Liberte in Stevenson Square, Garage Manchester pop up bar, an open weekend for Manchester’s craft breweries and more.

New opening: Patisserie Liberté cake shop and cafe in Stevenson Square (pictured)
This independent cake shop and cafe is serving home made cakes, breakfasts and lunches in the heart of the Northern Quarter. Highlights of the menu include eggs florentine, granola, French breakfasts (baguette, OJ, french toast, croissants) as well as favourites like green bean salad, and smoked salmon bagels. The concept stated in Algeria after the country gained liberation from French rule in 1962 – hence the name. The cafe was sold long ago, however the owners’ grandchildren have brought the concept to the Northern Quarter. Despite Algerian roots, this is very much a traditional French operation. Review to follow.
Now open: Patisserie Liberté, 10 Hilton Street Manchester. Tel: 07496 003730. Mon-Thu 7am-7pm, Fri 7am-8pm, Sat 9am-8pm. Sun 9am-5pm, www.facebook.com
