Named Street Food Trader of the Year at 2014’s Manchester Food and Drink Festival, Mei Mei’s Street Cart comes from the brains of 24-year-old Melissa Fu, whose mantra revolves around fresh, creative Chinese comfort dishes inspired by the food of her childhood – a far cry from the takeaway stodge us Brits have tainted the cuisine with. After beginning with just £100 and a slot at Camden Market, Mel’s since found crazy success with London pop-up Wong’s Happiness Diner and is now a regular fixture at one of our favourite street food events, Guerrilla Eats, whilst also being credited as the first to bring Beijing’s popular street food dish, Jianbing, to the UK. For this special supper club at Kosmonaut, Mei Mei’s Street Cart is serving up a four-dish feast of: Turnip Cake with Chinese Cured Bacon and Shrimp with Kewpie Mayo; Ribs in Peanut Chilli Oil with Szechuan Smacked Cucumber; Sesame Rice; 10hr Szechuan-spiced Beef Brisket with Kai Lan on Shanghai noodles. Tickets can be snapped up here.
