Imperial War Museum North takes an abstract look at history with new exhibition Wyndham Lewis: Life, Art, War. Lewis was the founder of the Cubist-inspired movement Vorticism and became an official war artist when posted to the western front in 1917. His most influential war works came from his time at Ypres and his close proximity to enemy lines. He became a significant radical name in twentieth century British art and literature, and developed a stormy relationship with the Bloomsbury Set. A century on from his official appointment, the exhibition features scores of artworks, books and pamphlets and represents IWM’s biggest arts exhibition to date.
