New Italian restaurant, Insolito, has opened opposite Manchester Art Gallery. Opened by two Italian students who wanted to taste their favourite Sicilian food in Manchester, the menu is full of Italian favourites. From the antipasto menu, dishes such as Carpaccio di Filetto (fillet carpaccio with rocket and parmesan) or Salmone alle Erbe (dehydrated salmon, fennel and herbs) begin the meal. The primi piatti menu offers classic lasagne or Penne Mediterranee (sword fish, aubergine, tomato sauce, mint and pine nuts) alongside a selection of risottos, salads, meat and fish such as Involtini ai Fiori di Zagara (pork loin, raisins, pine nuts, orange blossom glaze and breadcrumbs, and Gamberoni alla Griglia (wild red king prawns, olive oil, lemon and parsley sauce).
