Next Sunday sees the return of the Peel Park Pink Picnic, an annual get-together for the LGBT community. The picnic is now in its fourth year and has grown into a major event with many organised activities, a sound stage and marquees. This year will feature a performance by Eurovision star Nicki French, and other musical acts, including: Bears Aloud, Wolf, and No Idea. Also on the main stage will be the ‘Pooch Pageant’ – a competition to find the best-dressed dog. Other attractions include a beer tent, a falconry display, sporting events and face painting. This is a family-friendly event, which aims to promote respect and community cohesion. Entrance is free, but the organisers will be requesting a voluntary contribution on the day.
