If you’re missing browsing the Christmas markets with a tasty beverage in your hand then fret not. The Makers Market is staging its first event of the new year with a takeover of Spinningfields on the penultimate weekend of January. The market includes a host of artisanal things to eat, drink, wear and gaze upon to help you shake off those 2017 blues – and food is a particularly big deal. Choose from hearty open-topped growlers from the Cumbrian Pie company, sticky toffee pudding cheese from the Cheshire Cheese Co and sweet treats from Lola’s Bakehouse, among a whole host of other options – including doughnuts (pictured). Burgers on the go come courtesy of acclaimed street food dudes What’s Your Beef while Oh My Glaze serves the best in grilled meats with an international twist. Provided you’re not making your way through a dry January, artisan gins on offer include 3 Pugs and Rose Cottage, while Riverside’s flavoured vodkas are a must alongside locally crafted ales and gourmet coffee. Browse quirky, vintage pictures, furnishings and more at the stalls of Roger Browning, Jules Precious and Gizmobots, hand crafted jewellery by Chiron and retro inspired gifts from Jelly Button. With over 80 stalls to choose from, you’re bound to find something to appeal. Entertainment, meanwhile, is provided by two vinyl junkies: DJ Pasta Paul on Saturday and Tommalams on Sunday. All the ingredients of a great weekend, in one place.
