In times of great barbarity our resourcefulness and sense of community goes into hyper drive. That is what happened during WW1 when Chorlton-born David Lloyd George was chosen as Minister of Munitions, faced with the task of changing Britain’s bleak outlook. To commemorate this appointment, the Museum of Science & Industry is opening the world premiere of its  war exhibition, The Innovation Race: Manchester’s Makers Join the First World War. Mancunian stories will be heard in the presence of artefacts, diaries and photographs that show how the region’s resourcefulness played a significant part in the eventual victory.
