With the New Year quickly creeping up, avoid the last-minute panic of where to go with our guide to three of Manchester’s biggest best parties worth booking in advance.

Wet Play / Red Laser Disco @ Soup Kitchen (pictured)
With their NYE events now legendary, Soup Kitchen continue in the finest form this year with another solid line-up. With two rooms and eight hours of musical action, switch between a euphoric party with Wet Play – featuring Benny Badge, Ste Spandex and Kickin’ Pigeon – or venture to the King’s Chamber (upstairs) for ‘heavyweight boogie and italo jams’ from Red Laser Records and modern soul rock from Full Beam!. This is sure to sell out well in advance, so be sure to take advantage of early bird prices before they’re all gone.

A leader in the UK house and techno music scene during the heyday of The Hacienda, Jon was recently awarded Best House Track at The International Dance Awards for his collaboration with Maceo Plex, Love Somebody Else – so you can guarantee it’s going to be one hell of a party. Also bringing the vibes throughout the evening will be all female DJ collective, Disco Mums, and 2022NQ regular, Chips With Everything.

Friendly Fires DJ set @ Gorilla
Friendly Fire’s Jack Savidge heads up the occasion at Gorilla this year as he veers away from the band’s usual blend of indie dance in favour of an impressive mix of house, disco and techno instead. With Friendly Fires having already proved their impeccable taste with last year’s compilation Late Nite Tales, this is bound to be a blinder of a DJ set. And if that’s not enough to have you dancing like Friendly Fire’s singer Ed Marcfalane, Dave Haslam of The Hacienda fame and Warehouse Project’s Will Tramp will also be hitting the decks, with more special guests to be announced in the coming weeks.
Gorilla, Whitworth Street West, M1 5WW, 9pm – 4pm, £17.50, www.skiddle.com
