One of the Northern Quarter’s most exciting openings this year is celebrating being named among the Times’s newpapers’ 25 Coolest Restaurants in Britain by offering two Manchester Wire readers the chance to explore their Friday lunchtime ‘Giro Pizza’ deal (plus a bottle of house wine) for free. This celebration of all things Italian and sourdough at the end of the working week sees customers tucking into all the pizza they can eat, every Friday lunchtime for £7 per person, which includes a soft drink. The Tariff sourdough pizzas come in a wide range of flavours from ricotta and garlic to mushroom and truffle oil. There’s even a beef, Lancashire blue cheese and gherkin version to mix things up. As well as serving pizza, the bar and restaurant offers sharing boards, salads, gourmet sandwiches and gastro pub-style creations in the evening. Highlights of a recent visit included beef short rib with porcini mushroom ketchup and smoked mash (£16) and a ‘salted chocolate pot’ with peanut butter parfait and honeycomb (£6). Basically we’d recommend the lot. Tariff and Dale is restaurateur Nick De Sousa’s second property after running the Lead Station in Chorlton for many years.
