Join writer and DJ Dave Haslam as he talks to actress Maxine Peake in an intimate 50-minute discussion followed by an audience Q&A at the Royal Exchange this September. Special focus will be given to Maxine’s performance of the title role in Hamlet at the theatre, as well as touching on her illustrious career – spanning from her days in Victoria Wood’s much-loved Dinnerladies to her more dramatic roles including Silk and, of course, her career-defining performance in the sitcom Shameless. Expect a compelling insight to one of Greater Manchester’s finest theatrical exports, from her beginnings in the Royal Exchange’s youth theatre to her political beliefs, which have even resulted in her being awarded the first ‘Outstanding contribution to socialism’ award by the Socialist Club in her native Bolton. We have two tickets to give away for this special event – to be in with a chance of winning them, send the answer to the questions below, plus your name, age, phone number and Twitter handle, in an email with the subject line ‘Maxine Peake competition’ to competitions at manchesterwire dot co dot uk. The competition deadline is Sunday 8 June, with the winner announced the following day.
