This Saturday, Howling Rhythm is giving dancers the chance to win a piece by internationally renowned, Manchester-based artist Stanley Chow at its first party of 2015. His depiction of soul legend James Brown will be up for grabs at the 1960s soul, funk, rhythm and blues party. It’s a win-win for everyone involved, regardless of prizes; expect tracks from the likes of Motown stars Martha Reeves and The Vandellas plus underground sounds from equally talented musicians like Melba Moore, to fill the Ruby Lounge for an soulful and artistic start to 2015.

Sat 17 Jan, The Ruby Lounge, 28–34 High Street, M4 1QB, 11pm – 3am, £5 (Text HOWL + your full name to 82228 for cheaper entry), www.therubylounge.com
