The fight against bog-standard lager has been up and running for a good few years now – there can barely be a pub still open that doesn’t have a decent selection of local casks and a couple of foreign beers in the fridge for a special occasion. Beermoth in the Northern Quarter has quietly been trying to ramp things up a little though – boasting the most diverse range of beers in the whole of Manchester, the shop offers a glimpse of a future where weird and wonderful ales are the norm. Their latest tasting session promotes the Saison – a beer originating in Belgium, designed for drinking in the summer months. Guiding your tastebuds through six of the choicest drops in this style will be CAMRA’s John Clarke – an expert in pretty much anything hoppy coming out of Europe. Out of the 6 brews, 2 comes from the homeland of Belgium, 2 have been flown in from those crafty US microbreweries and the final couple come from these very shores. Full list below
