Rory Scovel and Micky Overman are a solid one-two on a Sunday afternoon, and there’s a big birthday for XS Malarkey.
Coming in as part of the Women In Comedy Festival (see a list of our full picks here), this show from Micky Overman kicks off a pretty special double bill on a Sunday. Dutch-born, London-based Micky has long been one of the best comedians in the country, but has recently gathered a huge online following that more than confirms what we’ve always known. A heck of a jokesmith and crafter of terrific hours, she’s always one to watch.
Later on Sunday, you can head from The Frog down to Fairfield Social Club to catch one of America’s finest. Asking the question ‘Should I Live Here’ with this whistle-stop European tour, the state of his home nation will almost certainly come up as he riffs on all sorts in his homely improvisational style. One of the best in the world, this will be his first solo Manchester show.

It’s been sold out for weeks so this is more a paean to Manchester’s best and longest-running comedy night. XS Malarkey turns 28 this week, and we can’t recommend this night highly enough. Consistently booking the biggest, best and most exciting acts around, Toby Hadoke and team deserve to celebrate with the best and a full house. Keep an eye out for returns, or chance your arm on the day, it’ll no doubt be an incredible lineup, as they have been for nearly three decades! What an innings.
