Alt-rock legends The Cure have announced a massive outdoor show in Manchester next summer.
The group are set to perform at Wythenshawe Park on Fri 21 Aug, as well as dates in Dublin, Belfast and Edinburgh, and a headline slot at next year’s Isle of Wight Festival. Support for the Manchester gig comes from Slowdive and Manchester’s own Slow Readers Club, acts handpicked by Robert Smith himself.
Since their first show in 1978, they have performed nearly 1,800 concerts worldwide, released 14 studio albums, more than 40 singles, a collection of concert films, live albums, box sets, books, soundtracks and much more. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, The Cure continue to define alternative music nearly five decades into their career.
The Cure become the latest group to take to the stage at Wythenshawe since the park was first transformed into a live music venue in 2023, when Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds headlined. Since then, the likes of Blossoms, New Order, Fontaines DC and Sam Fender have all performed. Lewis Capaldi is also set to perform next year.
General sale tickets go on sale Fri 3 Oct at 9am. Anyone signed up to The Cure mailing list before 10pm on Tue 30 Sep will get access to pre-sale tickets.
