Liars are a band that have always brilliantly avoided becoming typical of one particular genre, and have in the process become an integral park of the experimental rock scene that has seen such a boom in recent years. The New York-based three-piece (led by vocalist Andrew Angus) have gone from strength to strength since their debut album, They threw us all in a trench and stuck a monument on top, a clear descendent of post-punk outfits Gang of Four and Delta 5, and their new record WIXIW is a perfect example of lush textures and bizarre (yet utterly fantastic) harmonic and rhythmic writing.
