This March, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine makes a welcome return to The Bridgewater Hall as part of the 2026 International Concert Series, bringing another stirring programme that honours cultural heritage, shared history, enduring alliance and symphonic grandeur.

Led by conductor Volodymyr Sirenko, the orchestra opens with Maxim Berezovsky’s Symphony in C, the first Ukrainian symphony and a landmark in the nation’s musical history, its luminous charm offering a resonant act of remembrance.

Then, acclaimed pianist Maria Pukhlianko delivers a masterful rendition of Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ Piano Concerto, a work of defiant lyricism and heroic, forceful spirit.

A pair of Delius miniatures, including the tenderly evocative On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring, bring an unmistakably English interlude of pastoral warmth, before the evening culminates with a return to Beethoven and the triumphant energy of his Seventh Symphony.

Musical ambassadors for their homeland, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine once again reinforce their lasting, unbowed role on the international stage, presenting a programme that packed with cultural pride, emotional depth and musical brilliance.
