Homelessness charity Emmaus Salford is calling on individuals, businesses, colleges and other organisations to join its Walk for Good this February.

Over the last 11 years, Emmaus Salford has been a lifeline for people forced into homelessness, providing a home, support and work opportunities. However, the lease on the charity’s Pendleton community home expires in February 2028, and funding is now needed to either relocate or carry out vital refurbishment work to protect the future of the service.

One of the people taking part in next week’s fundraising walk is Malcolm, who is studying in college to go into a career in psychology while helping in the charity shop at Emmaus Salford.

Malcolm said: “When I was homeless, I had very little food, very little money, and I had to walk miles just to get to an appointment. You’re cold, you’re wet, you’re miserable – and then you’ve got to get up and do it all again.

“I’m walking for good this February to show solidarity with people who are homeless. I want to raise money and raise awareness so others don’t have to go through what I did.”

Anyone and everyone is invited to join Malcom in a mile-long fundraiser, starting from the charity’s base on Fitzwarren Street in Salford on Tue 17 Feb, at 9.30am.
