A much-loved Manchester brewery has announced it will be reviving a popular Chorlton hotspot.
Pomona Island, which launched the excellent North Westward Ho in the city centre back in 2023, will turn its attentions to the suburbs, taking over The Creameries on Chorlton’s Wilbraham Road, formerly home to acclaimed chef Mary-Ellen McTague and, more recently, Blanchflower.
The team describes the venture as a café bar with a focus on coffee, wine, cocktails and food service. Naturally, there’ll be plenty of excellent craft beers available, too. In total, there will be 16 rotating keg lines, 6 of which will be reserved for wines.

There’ll be no shortcuts taken; cakes will be baked fresh and bacon will be cured in-house. The lunch an evening menus will include a range of sandwiches and salads inspired by the teams’ travels with the brewery, with a particular focus on modern European and Scandi ingredients and techniques.
The kitchen will also be used to ferment, pickle and fat-wash ingredients that will shape the cocktail menu. The coffee will have a rotating range of guest roasteries from some of the best in the UK and Europe, and the wine is carefully curated from only the best suppliers.
Pomona will be opening The Creameries for drinks on Wed 29 Apr, with food service to start the following week. Keep an eye on the venue’s socials for more updates.
