The Science and Industry Museum hosts a May bank holiday weekend packed full of free, family-friendly space-themed activities.
Launching on National Space Day (Fri 1 May) and running until Mon 4 May, the programme includes new science shows, interactive challenges, creative workshops, and the chance to experience a giant projected night sky.
The free programme accompanies the museum’s blockbuster new exhibition, Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos (paid entry), an immersive adventure through the Solar System designed to entertain both children and grown-ups alike.

Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos marks the first time the much-loved BBC Horrible Science brand has been transformed into a large-scale immersive exhibition. The experience takes visitors on a journey through a series of weird and wonderful words, from exploring the International Space Station and landing on the Moon, to getting sizzled by the Sun and teetering on the edge of the Solar System
With its dedicated ‘Moon’ section, it celebrates the magic of the recent Artemis II lunar mission, including the opportunity to touch a real piece of the Moon that fell to Earth as a meteorite. Elsewhere, visitors can get a taste of space during new live shows by sampling real foods used to feed astronauts, and discover more about how humans live and work beyond Earth.
