Manchester’s Portico Library has teamed up with the Royal Literary Fund for a special event dedicated to championing the art of writing and publishing.

Happening on Wed 15 Jul, the event brings together local writers who will discuss their craft and inspirations, coinciding with the current Year of Reading, before taking part in a Q&A.

Chairing the event will be Marni Riches. Since publishing her award-winning debut, The Girl Who Wouldn’t Die, in 2015, Marni has gone on to become a bestselling crime fiction author, and also writes historical romance as Maggie Campbell. When she isn’t writing, Marni teaches for the Royal Literary Fund, and has taught the creative writing masters at Cambridge University.

Joining Marni will be Livi Michael, who has written novels for adults, young adults and children, and whose short stories have been published in Granta, The Lonely Crowd, Fictive Dream and more, and Louise Mulvey, a writer and counsellor currently residing in Manchester, and someone who has a firm belief that words have the power to change lives.

Tickets to The Portico’s Royal Literary Fund Inspiration event are priced at just £3. You can find out more and book your spot below.
