Manchester Food and Drink Festival is kind of a big deal – but woah, boy! It’s not for a few weeks yet so you’ll just have to hold your horses. Luckily, it turns out that in the meantime you can hop on a train and go to Liverpool for an equally delectable foodie festival. The launch weekend of the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival takes place in Sefton Park on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September, and will feature such celebrity names as Levi Roots, 2012’s Great British Bake Off winner and general nice guy John Whaite, the beehived queen of retro cooking Gizzi Erskine (pictured) and Aiden Byrne, who will soon be opening a restaurant in Manchester. The festival then continues throughout the week with various events at venues across the city, including a wine evening at Palm House, as well as the Food and Drink Awards, designed to celebrate and promote the best that Liverpool has to offer.
Sat 7 – Sun 15 Sep, Festival hub at Sefton Park, Liverpool, L17 1AF, £5 advance/ £6.50 OTD/ £9 weekend, www.liverpoolfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk
