Rip It Up brings a season of rebellion and era-defining classics to HOME

Running throughout autumn, HOME hosts a film season celebrating and exploring the changing face of youth rebellion, culture, and expression.

In partnership with BFI, Rip It Up journeys through different eras of youth culture, from Teddy Boys and mods to hedonistic self-expression in music and fashion, revisiting the many ways these generations have been portrayed on the big screen.

Highlights from HOME’s Rip It Up season include Derek Jarman’s provocative account of the punk movement, Jubilee, complete with an intro from the venue’s Head of Film Strategy, Danny Boyle’s iconic Trainspotting, and a cult classic of British avant-garde cinema, Nightshift.

Elsewhere in the programme, there’ll be chances to catch genre-defining and groundbreaking flicks like Quadrophenia, A Clockwork Orange and Beautiful Thing, while Icon / Iconoclast spotlights works by punk pioneer Jordan (Pamela Rooke), whose legacy is widely held as the original and definitive face of punk.
