A special evening celebrating one of Manchester’s most influential musicians, Vini Reilly and his post-punk project The Durutti Column, comes to Albert Hall this November.
Fresh from sold-out Southbank Centre performances, a unique ensemble will reinterpret key works from The Durutti Column’s remarkable six-decade career in Reilly’s home city on Thu 19 Nov.
Presenting the one-night-only For Vini show is producer Keir Stewart, who has worked with Reilly and drummer Bruce Mitchell since 1998’s Time Was Gigantic… When We Were Kids album.
For the performance, Stewart (guitar, bass, samples, keys) is joined by The Durutti Column collaborators Sam Morris (French horn), Caoilfhionn Rose (vocals and piano) and Liz Rossi (violin and piano).
Audiences can expect to hear material that spans releases on Factory Records through to tracks from Renascent, creating a rare and immersive live experience that honours one of Manchester’s most singular musical voices, one recently cited as a key influence on Harry Styles’ latest album Kiss All The Time.
